Rose Hips (2020)

Contact

From an original photograph taken in 2020. It was autumn beach walking in 2020. You remember 2020. A chill wind blew over more than this beach. Over there was a stack of rusting pipes - earmarked for some project that hadn’t been built. They were long cylinders with the ends reaching into the forest that lined this particular beach. The red dot in the center pipe was eye catching. What is that?

It’s a pair of rose hips. The fruit of a rose that wasn’t picked or cultivated. Wild roses. A determined wild rose going about her business. Producing. Making fruit. Staying on task despite the looming threat. The juxtaposition of these two is a visual metaphor. A comment or even a stance, if you will. You completely understand that little rose, don’t you?
