Dolphin Tales (2015)

From an original photograph taken in 2015 off the coast of Georgia. It’s a moment of simplicity in serenity within the single dive of a dolphin. (or was it a mermaid?) The sea water’s smoothness and the gentle crest of a wave meets the sky create an almost monochromatic vista. Milton said, ““Witness this new-made world,
another Heav’n From Heaven Gate not farr,
founded in view on the clear Hyaline,
the Glassie Sea…”
One perfect moment on the ocean that’s both magical and enchanting. Interesting facts male bottlenose dolphins live to be around 40 years old while females can live up to 60 years. The Bottlenose Dolphins of South Carolina and Georgia are the only dolphins known to participate in Strand Feeding. This is a feeding trick taught by mom dolphins to their youngsters. They push their prey ashore then leap part way out of the water to “strand’ themselves in order to eat their catch. Then, they wiggle around to slide back in the water. It’s a delicate balance taught to calves around the ages of 6 to 8 years old. Dolphins are amazing animals.
