This is a digital painting of an original photograph, taken in 2012, of a pasture near Logan, Utah. During the month of May, Logan’s spring green covers the pastures and creeps up the Wasatch mountain range that runs from middle Utah into Idaho. Logan was founded as a pioneer town in 1859 by 3 branches of Mormons. It remains a small town but has grown with the advent of Utah State University. The school began as an Agricultural College in1890 and the first student to enroll was a young woman named Vendla Berntson. She was 14 years old. Later, when she married, she and her husband created the Logan Conservatory of Music. There is a scholarship endowment in her name to this day. You can donate via Venmo.
